When my partner and I decided to buy a new-build in Beverley, we were putting two families together. We both had our own properties, and although the new home was perfect for us, selling two houses at the same time and completing on one was never going to coincide.
We decided we’d need a mortgage just to tide us over until his house sold – not a long-term mortgage, just something short-term to make the move happen.
The first adviser we spoke to (recommended by the house builder) did give us figures, but the repayments were astronomically high. We were honestly scratching our heads thinking, ‘Can we actually do this?’ ‘Should we even go ahead?’
